In 1932, an Agricultural research station was transferred from Tel Aviv to Rehovot.
It became the Department of Agriculture of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem after 30 years.
In 1934, Chaim Weizmann, a Jewish immigrant from Russia, became the first President of Israel.
He built the prestigious Weizmann Institute of Science where its staff conducts research in the field of natural science, seeking answers to the problems on cancer, aging environment, etc.
